The greens were crisp. The patty was a little burnt. The bacon…DRY! The only burger on the Cafe on the Square’s menu was a “build your own” with everything on the side. That’ already a signal, effort much? I personally have nothing really against the “build your own” in the sense that it grants you the comfort of being picky with out driving your waitress crazy. “Mayo on the side, easy lettuce, no onions, no mustard, extra pickles…” I’ve been there, it’s not fun. Conversely, if I’m gonna make my own burger why didn’t I just stay at home? What’s the deal here Cafe on the Square? In there defense, burgers don’t seem to be or desire to be the focus of the menu. I’m not demanding a signature end all of end all beta series burger, but if you’re gonna offer something up at least make it worthy of your caliber and my dollar. The service was good and the location on the historic downtown district of San Marcos across from the courthouse does make for a fresh scene. If you find yourself at the ol’ cafe I’d say steer clear of the cheeseburger, save it for a cafe that cares. Alas, as the doublecheeseblogger I shan’t be returning.

the presentation makes the meal look very appetizing but it could just be the photo quality.
I’m not a fan usually of the make your own format however i have recently gone to fuddruckers and experienced an excellent burger. I feel this establishment is often overlooked due to its cheesiness (lqtm).
Also as the doublecheesblogger I’m interested to hear your opinions on mini-burgers sometimes known as “sliders,” they are a unique meal catering to an even faster paced society. BUrgers in many ways reflect American society, examining the qualities and attributes is a daunting task, the doublecheeseblogger should be commended for her work
